  2. Approx 10% is free...it may even be less...I offer free shipping on all my jewelry items....I personally like...what you see is what you get! I recently made an online purchase that had a suggested shpg price of $5.00 when I placed the order it was $9.99 and was shipping from a bordering state....it was a very small item... needless to say..what I saw was not what I got :-( Free shipping makes me very happy...even if the TRUE costs are worked in.

  8. I would say that about 80% of the purchases I make online have free shipping. If I have to pay to much for shipping, I probably wont' purchase the item.

I am a follower on your blog and I liked you on fb.

  9. I'm very careful about shipping costs. If I order some small thing and they tell me it's going to cost 5 or 6 dollars to mail it, I cancel the order. About 20% of the things I order have free shipping. And I'm with Melinda. I like free shipping (even if I know the cost of shipping is built in to the price of the merchandise).

    ReplyDelete
  10. I live in Germany so I have to pay for the shipping all the time...

    ReplyDelete
  11. Probably 20% or so of what I buy has free shipping. I always look carefully at shipping costs and mentally determine whether the price online including shipping is better than I could get it locally.

In my own online stores I am going to the free shipping model and just including the cost of shipping in the item price.

I will contact them and ask how much the add to the price of the free shipping. If they have an attitude when asked I just buy somewhere else. I am following this blog and share on facebook.

  36. About 40 % of all my on-line purchases have free shipping.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I do free shipping on any order over 100$, and combine shipping for multiple small orders too. As for what I encounter, it's about 50% do free shipping, or very small shipping amounts - depending on the type of order and where it's coming from. If you add non-jewelry/business related purchases to what I'm to be answering with, the percentage goes way up, since sites like amazon do free shipping too.

    ReplyDelete
  38. about 40% of all my online purchases include free shipping.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Less than 10%. I started working the shipping into my prices so there is not another charge.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Only about 10%. 90% has S & H, or processing, fees.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I try for as little as possible. : )

    ReplyDelete
  42. I would say 30% of the sites I buy from are free. I really look hard for what I call ordinary shipping costs. I know what shipping should cost and hate it when sites charge high prices. I will not buy from those sites. I'm a follower BTW.

    ReplyDelete
  43. About 20% of my purchases have free shipping, and this is a big determinant as to whether or not I buy on line. Occasionally, I will make large purchases, which qualify for free shipping.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Probably 50%. That is one reason I shop online.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Probably 50%+, when I compare prices I add in the shipping for overall cost. If the company won't discount the shipping for more than 1 item, I won't be back.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Not actually buying too much right now, but I would hazard a guess that it is less than 5%.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I have just found your blog and only about 10% of my shopping receives free shipping.

    ReplyDelete
  50. At LEAST 50% of my online purchases receive free shipping, and at least 25% have flat rate shipping. I abandon a filled cart way too often due to inflated S&H.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I will shop around. About 80% of my purchases include free shipping.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I would say 80% is free shipping. Unless I need the item "now" I shop around until I find it with free shipping. All of my large quantity purchases have free shipping.

  54. I believe I get free shipping on about 10% of my online orders. For most of the stores I order from, there is a minimum shipping amount and it goes up from there - usually starting around $5. I think for the amount of money I spend at their e-stores, the least they could do is give me free shipping with a certain $ amount spent!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Great give-a-way! ' would love to win! Most of my purchases have free shipment. Honestly, that is the first thing I look at when making a purchase. Then, I compare prices on similar items to make sure it is to my benefit. I usually catch sales on items I regularly use, so, that certainly helps. Needless to say, I have quite a stash, most at good prices.

I liked and shared you on facebook and am a new follower to your blog. THANKS!!

    ReplyDelete

  72. I'd have to say 10% or less of my purchases get free shipping. I do a lot of online shopping for my bead store, and when you're ordering 10 hammers and anvils, not many people want to offer free shipping. I do have a few suppliers that offer low cost shipping options ($1.99 shipping on a crystal order going Priority Mail for instance)

    ReplyDelete
  73. 80-90% are free. I usually don't buy unless the shipping is free.

  83. Only about 10% or less of mu purchases come with free shipping. I live in Canada and most of my orders are in the US. They do not ship free to Canada even if they have a "FREE SHIPPING" sale. Canadian orders mostly have shipping charges as well, but some will ship free.

    ReplyDelete
  84. I'd say 10 to 20% of my online orders offer free shipping...and free shipping makes me more willing to order!

    ReplyDelete
  85. I would say about 50% of my purchases are free shipping.

    ReplyDelete
  86. About half of the purchases I buy come with free shipping. I usually wait for free shipping codes or buy from sites who ship for free with a minimum purchase.

    ReplyDelete
  87. 90% of my purchases are with free shipping. I love that and would rather spend the money on more product that to have it shipped to me!

    ReplyDelete
  88. About 10 - 20 percent might be free. I also do a lot of "Flat Rate/$5 shipping" type deals.

    Thanks for having the giveaway!

  95. Many companies offer free shipping, so I would say about 15% have free shipping. And I am more likely to buy from a site with free shipping or flat rate shipping.

    ReplyDelete
  96. The competition for sales is making companies look at new ideas to be more competitive. And one of those ways is free shipping. Ebay is really pushing free delivery also. I'd say the average of companies subsidizing or giving free shipping is in the 20% range.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Good question. For myself, that percentage is approximately 30%. I'm not sure if it's the economy, or just perhaps, sound business practice; but the trend seems to be catching on with more of the merchants I deal with on a regular basis. Thank you for asking.

    ReplyDelete
  98. At least 80% of my on-line purchases get free shipping. When I discover that shipping charges were much more than actual cost of shipping, I tend not to order from that supplier again. On my own site, I offer free shipping with a minimum order.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Love the product. I am using it for my kit at Bead and Button this year, in the Perfect Marriage class. I guess about 30% of my internet shopping is with free shipping. I also liked you on FB.

    ReplyDelete
  100. I think 10 - 15 % is free. I agree with Melinda. Very frustrating to order a small item and find the price has doubled due to shipping!

    ReplyDelete
  101. Hi! currently, I haven't any free shipping on my purchases. Can't wait to check out all you have to offer. I am new at this...but am a blog follower...also a Facebook follower. And I think I am the first of my friends on Facebook to "like".
thanks for letting me join you here.

    ReplyDelete
  102. I look at the value of the item I am purchasing plus any cost for shipping. Then I compare that to a similar item with free shipping. My final purchase decision is based on value for the
total price. I expect to pay my fair share of shipping charges whether it is listd as free with the charge rolled in or if I pay a separate shipping fee.

    ReplyDelete
  103. I get free shipping on exactly ZERO percent of my online orders. This is because I live in Hawaii and it is very difficult to find any e-tailer that ships to Hawaii at no charge.
Having said that, I just (yesterday) upgraded a membership program that will ship my orders of books, music, etc. for free for a year. I doubt I'll order books or music as frequently as I buy jewelry-making supplies!

  104. Actually 0% It is very hard not to charge because it can be so expensive to ship items and I understand when people charge S&H to me, but I wish the big companies would give a break once in a while. A lot will give free s&h if you spend $100 or more and not everyone can spend that.

    ReplyDelete
  105. I'd say about 50% of my online purchases receive free shipping. As much as possible, I buy from vendors that offer it.

    ReplyDelete
  106. I am pleased to say that over the past few months, at couple of the merchants I regularly do business with, has either "held over" free shipping, due to popular demand; or just plain modified their practice as to, not charging S&H at all anymore. My final answer; 30% of the companies I regularly do business with do not charge shipping fees.

    ReplyDelete
  107. About 60% of the items I purchase have free shipping, that is a big plus for me to buy from someone. Followed your fabulous blog and liked you on Facebook!

    ReplyDelete
  108. I'm now following your blog! And I buy about 50% of my online items from vendors who offer free shipping.

  110. I would say about 20% of what I order online is with free shipping, it would be more if I could coordinate orders better. Also sometimes, you can find the item cheaper with shipping charges if you do a little digging. I follow the blog through networked blogs and facebook.

coliver 2 at gmail dot com

    ReplyDelete
  111. Probably about 30% is free shipping. I always check the websites that offer free shipping first, comparing their prices to other sites factoring in shipping costs. Most of the other online vendors I use have reasonable shipping, or occasional free shipping promotions. I try to stay away altogether from the vendors that have expensive shipping.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Approximately 50% is free. After that I tend to go with low flat rate shipping. I will cancel an order if the shipping is too high ie often shipping to Canada will be $25 or more.
I shared on facebook, couldn't convince google to let me follow the blog though :(

    ReplyDelete
  115. Being in Australia only about 1% would be free and thats only because it is the rare occasion when I can buy from a local vendor.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Okay, google let me this time ;)
    I follow the blog

    ReplyDelete
  117. I look for free shipping, so I'd say maybe 60%. I am a blog follower, and I am sharing your giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  118. I probably get 75% of my orders shipped free, I really try to order where this will be possible or order enough to make it free, but sometimes I get stuck because of what I really need.

    ReplyDelete
  119. I'd say about 30% get free shipping. I try to add basic items that I always need to meet the minimum whenever possible. Another good trick is to only order when backordered items become available, since a number of vendors give free shipping on backordered items.

    ReplyDelete
  120. I am a Blog follower and I like you on facebook.
    I love softflex.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Walking through huge stores, fighting crowds, and standing in long lines is tiresome and time-consuming, so I buy everything but fresh produce online -- mostly from Amazon which has free auto-shipping and free super saver shipping with $25 purchase. 94% of my purchases ships for free; 6% of the time I'll pay shipping costs if they are reasonable. What matters more to me is product quality, customer service, and with what and where the product is made. I prefer buying products made in the USA to keep my fellow countrymen employed and to support our American economy.

    ReplyDelete
  122. i'd say about that less than 10% of purchases that I buy are free. *liked* you on facebook and following on twitter and shared your giveaway on my fb fan page and twitter=) blog follower.

    ReplyDelete
  123. I try and do my ordering on line when the merchant offers free shipping, especially if there is a walk in store available. I am new to jewelry making and have been using cheap wire to practice on, but am almost confident enough to start ordering Soft Flex wires.

    ReplyDelete
  124. At least 75%, probably closer to 90%. But that's because I have free Prime shipping at Amazon, thanks to my daughter's Amazon Student account, and at Borders and Barnes and Noble through their rewards clubs. Otherwise, I always look for free shipping codes when I shop online and tend to order more from companies that offer it. Some online stores I even avoid because shipping/handling charges are so high. The unfortunate side effect of free shipping for me is too-frequent shopping!

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  127. For me, it's about 10%. Shipping costs have gotten really out of hand over the past year or so and I'm thinking that it's a sign of the recession. Everybody wants to make a profit :)

    ReplyDelete
  128. Hello,

I would say that 70% of my purchases receive free shipping. I am pretty good at finding free shipping codes, and do preference vendors that offer free shipping. This is especially true for eBay purches.

  129. Free shipping is a great motivator for me, so I'd say about 50% of my purchases are shipped free.

  137. Probably 20-30%. I use the freight costs in my calculations to decide where I'm going to buy items. I find I will buy more from sites that are freight free!

    ReplyDelete
  138. Maybe 30% is free. I have some vendors that give me free shipping if I purchase a certain amount for my company. :)

I follow this blog, as well as your pages on Twitter and Facebook. :)

  139. I find less than 5% of my purchases have free shipping and then it is either from a major retail stores with a minimum purchase for free shipping or it is free from china or hongkong. Although if i compare prices on some items then i calculate that shipping has been added into the cost of the item initially.

  140. about 1% of my Internet purchase's are shipping free. Because I like in Australia shipping can cost me more than the thing I would like to buy. This stops lots of purchase's striate away

    ReplyDelete
  141. Definitely less than 10% of my online purchases are free shipping. Usually the shipping is more than the price of the item if it is a small item. My email is jeditrish29@yahoo.com

  147. 10% unfortunately. I order a lot of glass and I hardly ever get free or reduced shipping. I try to use companies that offer free shipping for other supplies. havanabeads@yahoo.com.

  151. Gee... I always look for free shipping, but don't always get it. If I am ordering a significant amount, I don't expect the shipping to go up exponentially. If it does, I skip the order. I can deal with reasonable shipping though. It'd be nice if more shippers used the flat rate USPS boxes. I would say I get free shipping about 30 to 40% of the time. I follow this blog.I also "like" you on FB. Happy contest!

    ReplyDelete
  156. i don't think i get free shipping very often so maybe 10% would be a good estimate. sometimes if i buy more than one item then the shipping costs for the other items are free.

    ReplyDelete
  157. 75% of what I buy is free shipping. I usually do a lot of comparison shopping in order to achieve this. I may find something I want on another website but if it doesn't offer free shipping, I will price it elsewhere.

I shared (on FB), I liked and I followed!

  158. I search for products and companies that offer free shipping, especially for smaller amounts spent... so, I average about 25-45% of my orders.

    ReplyDelete
  160. I would say 80% have either free shipping or a flat rate shipping. I prefer to shop free or flat rate shipping as it's easier to calculate your cost and figure out which site has the better deal if you don't have to figure out the shipping.

  162. About 40% of online purchases are free shipping because I don't like to pay for it. hmmm....

    ReplyDelete
  163. I guess it's about 75% or more free shipping. It has to be something really special to pay for shipping. If I can't get free shipping I won't buy!

    ReplyDelete
  164. I'd say less than 10% of the time I get free shipping. But, I don't mind paying a reasonable charge for shipping. I buy from a lot of places that have $5-$8 shipping, which is reasonable. I usually pay the shipping on items I ship.

    ReplyDelete
  165. Well, I love free shipping when I'm shopping so I always look for it. I'm gonna say about 20% of the time I get it. I don't sell anything online but if I ever decide to I'll probably offer free shipping because I know how much it attracts me.

    ReplyDelete
  166. I would say a good 40-50% are shipped for free as I have sites I go to that have free shipping. That is one of the reason I use them. I am a blog follower and share this with my friends on Face Book.

  167. Probably 80-90% with free shipping; I will save up items to make an order big enough to qualify for free shipping at places that offer it above a given order value.

    ReplyDelete
  168. I would say at the max, 10% offer free shipping. When they tell you an estimate of the price and go to pay for purchases it is a lot higher. When I order from Soft Flex, it is free, but, best of all, is the quality of the merchandise and fast service. Thank you very much.

  169. Probably 10% or less. I do realy perk up when i see free shipping and do look for specials that include that. I havnt been selling too much the last couple years as i have been ill. i wont order from companies that have the hidden or really actually false shipping costs listed but charge you something completely different.
Shipping costs are always figured into my pricing and if that makes seomthing a price i dont think will be reasonable i dont order from that place. i do love the free shipping anytime. great topic, have read all the responses really interesting.
    thank you
am a blog follower on both my facebook accounts now.

  170. not sure if my first post went through
maye 10% of my purchases are free shipping. most are the one price shipping like 5 dollars no matter what you order.
i havnt been selling much for the last couple years due to illness but i always figured shipping into the4 cost of what i was making and selling and if it made the object a price that wasnt marketable then i didnt order the supplies.
i must say free shipping perks me right up and i may order things i wouldnt have at that time because of the free shipping offer.
i also will use companies that offer free shipping when you spend an certain amount for my general supplies to keep stocked up.
thank you for this topic it really is interesting to read everyones responses
    i do follow the blog
    so much good information

  172. I prefer free shipping and low shipping costs and will go for those vendors when I can; and I always thank them and let them know that shipping was a big part of my buying decision. Many Vendors lose ALL my business (are you listening FireMountain?)because they give mainland customers 5.00 shipping but charge Alaska and Hawaii, where I am, customers HUGE shipping charges. They refuse to use USPS PRIORITY MAIL, & have lame excuses that their cart software computes the weight on each item, and they are able, huh?, to program it for a FLAT RATE box amount. Their loss. Once I ordered 8 little findings that I couldn't get elsewhere, and they charged me 18.00 in shipping, the order was only for 8.00. The package arrived with a heavy catalog that I didn't need and I was charged for it's weight! but it gets better, they then mailed me the same catalog a week later. So Sara, don't get me started on Shipping Fees as they really ARE a hot button for me! Susan

  173. When i order on line i usally pay 1 dollar for shipping no matter what i buy that is the way i do it because the items i buy in B.C. are way more expensive and from the states sometimes it is half the price and when starting out that is what you need cindy bell

  174. Living in Australia there is always a postage charge, which is dearer the items I have purchased, so I buy where I can get the best value.

  175. I think I'm very lucky: I believe that I get free shipping for about 50% of the things I buy. I rarely get FS on clothing, but I do on almost everything else I buy. And that makes me feel good!

    ReplyDelete
  176. I estimate about 40% of everything I order online has free shipping. I don't mind paying reasonable shipping prices that represent a pass-through of what it costs the vendor, but I don't want them to make money off of me for shipping when they are already making money off of me for the item I am buying.

    ReplyDelete
  177. 40-60% I tend to place big orders that last me a while and often when you reach a certain price point, shipping is free.

  178. I live in Luxembourg and I have free shipping in only about 10% of my purchases, mainly from sellers on ebay who are in Asia. No free shipping from the US, that's for sure! But I do buy from many American sites and when they offer free shipping inside the US, I have my purchase delivered at a friend's place over there.

I liked you on FB :)

  185. I don't buy online very often because of the shipping charges. I look for companies who offer free shipping over a certain amount. I'd say about 33% of my purchases have free shipping. I too would rather have the shipping built into the price. I don't like to be surprised at check out. I was going to buy a pattern recently and found the shipping would have been more than the pattern cost so I decided to forego the purchase.
