Knitting With Beading Wire In Book

One of my favorite chapters in our new book Show Your Colors covers knitting with beading wire. There are step-by-step instructions for two different ways to knit. Projects show how to use multiple colors of wire (similar to design show above), several different sizes of knitting spools and adding beads to make a design extra special.

There is nothing quite like knitted beading wire. It has such a nice feel to it. The color combinations are endless. For the design shown, I used amethyst, tanzanite and red jasper in .019 Soft Flex Beading Wire. For a bracelet like this, you'll need a spool with 30 feet. I chose to knit with the 5-pin knitting spool, but there are also 3-pin and 4-pin options.  I used bead caps as cones from Bead World and a toggle clasp from TierraCast which I purchased from ArtBeads.com. To attach to the clasp, I crimped using my Mighty Crimping Pliers and 3x3mm sterling silver crimp tubes

Pretty, Sara!! I've used that same clasp before...really nice! I need to get a copy of your book so I can learn how to knit the beading wire! Of course, I have no idea how to knit yarn, so I may be in trouble! LOL

I think the best part of knitting a bracelet design on a knitting spool is that you can finish an entire project in one sitting. Rarely do you get that sort of instant gratification when knitting! It goes pretty quickly and I love how the different colors of Soft Flex Beading wire melt together when combined to almost create their own unique color. So fun!

What kind of wire is that? Is plastic coated of some sort? Curious....

It is Soft Flex Beading Wire. It is 49 strands of stainless steel braided together and then coated in a color nylon coating. It is very strong, yet very flexible and lends itself well to designs like this.
