DIY Modern Ear Wires + WigJig Coupon1:00 PM
Making ear wires is fairly simple and a great way to add a handmade touch to your designs. Today, I'm going to share how to make consistent and modern ear wires.
Cut two 3" pieces of 20 Gauge Pewter Soft Flex Craft Wire. Use the Nylon Jaw Pliers to straighten your wire pieces and file the ends of the wire with a Cup Bur or a metal file. Place the 3/4" peg from the WigJig Premium Peg Set on the WigJig Olympus Lite and place one small metal peg (metal pegs come with the jig) near the bottom left of the 3/4" peg.
Make a loop with your round nose pliers on one side of each piece of wire. Place your loop (open loop side facing out) on the small metal peg and wrap around the 3/4" peg. Remove the shape from the peg and repeat with your second piece of wire.
Hold both shapes in your hand together so they line up even and pinch the loop and end of the wire to make a more oval shape.
Take your pliers and create a little curve on the end if you wish. To harden the ear wire so that it will stand up to wear, place it on a hard flat surface or Rubber Block and whack it a few times on both sides with a Nylon Tip Hammer or rubber mallet.
