Wedding advice?

4:52 PM

With less than 8 months until our wedding on November 5th, I'm starting to think more and more seriously about the details. I stopped and wondered if you might have a story or two to share. Yes, you! Are you married? Have you been a bridesmaid? Do you have any advice for Joshua and I in planning our big day?

  1. Best wishes to you for a long and happy marriage! The best advice I can offer you is that if at all possible have your rehearsal on Thursday instead of Friday so you have a day inbetween to do things like your nails and you get to really enjoy both get-togethers.

  2. Alexa Bloom: The only advice I can give you is to not think about anything on the big day except enjoying what's happening. It's too easy to be nervous or worried about everything and forget to just BE. Otherwise, the only thing you'll remember 10 years later is how stressed you were that the officiant was late and your hair was taking too long.

Jan Atherton: I agree wholeheartedly with Alexa, enjoy the day it will go so fast! There will always be a few things that will not go to plan, just be open to that possibility.

Beth Fullen: Remember it's ur wedding. Not ur parents or friends. Do what u want not what u think will make others happy.

  3. Great advice, so far! Thanks guys!

  4. My best advice is to not worry about the details on your big day. You can choose to let some little thing ruin your day, or you can have a great time with the love of your life. Oh yeah, and eat two pieces of cake because wedding cake is awesome!

  5. Yum - cake! We are going cake tasting this weekend. I can't wait!

  6. Emmalee Kirkland: Hense why we wanna do it Vegas the Elvis chapel and let them do it all for us!

Alexa Bloom ‎@Emmalee- the best wedding I've ever been to was my sister's in Vegas! Elvis married them in a 10 minute ceremony, streamed live online for people who didn't go. We had buffet and gambling at the reception. We all dressed up as Vegaslike as possible. Hands down, BEST (most fun) WEDDING EVER!

Jan Atherton: A family friend videoed our wedding, Jeremy and I had a day between our wedding and our honeymoon flight, so we took the video up to Grandma and Papa's, as Papa hadn't been well enough to go to the wedding.

  7. Hi Sara!

I also had my wedding in November (11/08) and I was going to advise you to have an indoor back up plan in case of weather-- but I checked out your wedding website and see you're getting married in Arizona--so you should be OK! It will be gorgeous, I'm sure! Two other pieces of advice-- eat something before the wedding and reception. The day will go so fast. My sister made me a sandwich to eat on the way to our venue-- and I didn't end up eating much of the dinner. Also, appoint a trusted friend or family member who can help you see to details during the day. My husband's cousin stepped in the day of and dealt with last minute seating changes/questions, sprinkling rose petals, you name it, she did it and I am still so grateful to her! Promise to post pictures of your big day!

    Best wishes to you both!
