Braiding is one of my favorite techniques to use when I'm exposing beading wire in designs. I love how it looks like fine chain, especially when one of the Soft Flex Extreme Wire colors are braided. This necklace was made with the 24K Gold color, in both the .014 (fine) and .019 (medium) diameters. I used fine for the braided strand (to keep the braid thin and delicate) and medium for the single strand (for strength, since the wire is completely exposed).

Swarovski Elements 4, 6, and 8mm crystals in Montana and olivine, enhanced with 8mm Squaredelles in Montana, are spaced along the braid. The holes in the 4mm crystals are small enough to stay put with thickness of the braid on either side of them, but the 8mm crystal holes are larger and are therefore crimped in place. This color combination screams luxury to me, so I used a gold beaded rivoli setting charm and 12mm rivoli in Montana to take that elegant feel even further. Holding it all together is a toggle clasp set with even more Montana crystals.

Wouldn't this necklace be perfect to wear on a fancy European vacation? If only I had one planned...
